RV in the cold, Indiana Dunes SP

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

I’ve lived half my life in the Midwest, and the first thing you learned is you don’t go outside in the winter time without being dressed appropriately. Well the same as true when it comes to running the RV. We left St Louis and headed north to see the Grandkids, Jessica and Mike knowing it would just get colder, and it did.

In preparation, we winterized the Pup by 1) emptying the water heater 2) emptying the fresh water 3) pushing RV antifreeze theough the lines, faucets, toilet and P traps and finally hoped for the best.

We started by camping at Indiana Dunes State Park , waking up early and hiking the dunes down to the water. The park was a little over an hour from Jessica’s house so we decided to change to Bull Frog lake State Park locates in the Forest Preserves of Cook County Illonois.

I also made some modifications to the Pup adding a second shoe compartment, a shelf for my coffee maker and shelving unit where the mini refrigerate sat. cool
