Van Buren SP Michigan

The Pup is disabled, my sister in law Dona and her husband Mike are in a rented Winabego and it’s raining but we are not deterred. By gum we will have a good time if it kills us.

So Mike and I get the tent and sleeping pad from a Chicago Big Five Sporting Goods while the ladies drive the Winabego to Van Buren State Park.

We arrive at nearly the same time, about 8:00 pm, put our tent up, inflate the pad and get situated while Dona and Mike plug in the Winabego. We pull the bikes and drive around and watch a beautiful sunset off the sandy dunes.

A little too late, we realize that we are now in Eastern Time Zone and all restaurants in South Haven are closed. We eat salad with left over steak strips and Cheese cake.

The next morning Vicki makes a full breakfast and by 10:00 am we bike the 6 miles to South Haven for lunch and to visit the light houses at the entrance of Michigan’s Black River.

After the long South Haven 12 mile loop we relax and have Gina’s Campfire pizzas have a few drinks and teach Dona and Mike KingDomino.

Dona wins.

Tomorrow we head to Sleeping Bear National Seashore.
